OAK EMPLOYMENT SERVICES


oakp_sept.05_oes_front.jpgOAK Employment Services operate from a central office in O’Connell Square, Edenderry, where they provide information and referral on a wide range of education and training options, as well as a range of confidential services, including one-to-one career guidance, job mediation, counselling and after-placement support for long-term unemployed people. The service is staffed by a Coordinator, Mediator and Information Worker. The office also provides a base for a FAS Placement Officer. Clients can access our services by contacting our offices or alternatively our staff will be happy to meet clients at convenient outreach locations.

In addition to providing information, guidance and counselling services, OAK Employment Services also provide a range of practical education / training courses. These include:



Foundations for Employment:

The focus of Foundations for Employment training is on removing the barriers, particularly educational and personal barriers that are preventing participant’s progression. The programme is aimed at people who have left school without a solid foundation in education and who now wish to improve their basic skills and abilities while also developing a realistic career path plan. Modules include basic english and maths, communications, personal skills, computers, field trips. Programmes are located in Allenwood, Co Kildare and Rhode, Co Offaly.

Computer and Office Skills Programme:

Located in Rathangan, Co. Kildare, the Computer and Office Skills Training Programme is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to secure office based employment. Modules include computer applications, office skills training, personal development, job search and interview skills and practical work experience.

JobLink

Joblink is an innovative Community Employment Scheme that serves to bridge the final step into employment through long-term supported work-placement. Joblink offers a 10-week training programme, followed by an in-company employment placement of up to 16 weeks. Modules include personal skills development, core work-skills training, career guidance and planning, and job-seeking skills.

Business Development Programme

OAK Business Development Programme is a 26 week Community Employment Scheme open to unemployed people who wish to explore the possibility of setting up their own business. The programme, delivered one day per week includes enterprise development and planning, market research, financial planning, book keeping and taxation, management and legalities, one to one mentoring and advice.

Job Initiative Scheme
sean_forklift_ji.jpgOAK Partnership Job Initiative Scheme commenced in November 1999 to provide full-time employment for people over 35 years of age, who have previously been unemployed for 5 years or more and living within the Partnership area. The purpose of the scheme is to assist long term unemployed people to prepare for work opportunities in the open labour market. The scheme achieves this by providing community based work experience, training, and development opportunities. Participants on the scheme work a standard 39 hours per week and at present, the contract length is three years, renewable annually.
