COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT


OAK Partnerships Family, Youth and Community Support activities focus on the needs of disadvantaged communities, families, youth at risk, and individuals in specific areas throughout North Offaly and North West Kildare. These activities seek to strengthen and support the local community sector by working with those who experience social exclusion and encourage the empowerment of communities to achieve positive local development.

OAK Community Support Services

Project Support Fund
OAK Partnership provides financial support to local community/voluntary groups in disadvantaged areas to help develop local initiatives, which build the capacity of the community to participate in decision-making structures.

Training Supports
OAK Partnership provides community training programmes including volunteer support, committee and organisational skills for community and voluntary groups.

Youth Development Services
OAK Partnership’s Youth Development Worker provides training and ongoing support to adults and groups seeking to establish youth clubs within their community. Supports provided include:
  • Child protection and good practice
  • Insurance and affiliation
  • Recruitment of adult volunteers.

Education Services
oakp_sept.05_mill_fund.jpgThrough its Education Coordinator OAK Partnership supports local inter agency and community based initiatives to promote equality of access and participation in education for students of all ages.Services include:
  • Liaison with primary, post primary, third level and non formal service providers
  • Management of the Millennium Partnership Fund for Third Level Access
  • Financial support and mentoring for community based activities
  • Information, guidance and mentoring for individuals.

Disability Services

  • Support the families of people with disabilities
  • Provides engagement in social activities
  • Facilitates education, training and personal development.
